Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025
Sponsored by Flack, Hon. Rob · Royal Assent received. Statutes of Ontario 2025, chapter 14
- Amends 15 existing Ontario Acts and creates a new one, mainly to speed up transit, housing and infrastructure projects and to adjust rules on development charges, tenancies, driver's licences and water/sewage services.
- Expands ministerial and municipal powers over construction, transit corridors, water infrastructure and land use, while shortening some notice periods and review timelines.
- Removes definition of 'immediate danger to construction', folding it into section 26.
- Expands construction references to include operation and maintenance in several sections.
- Reduces notice periods from 30 days to 15 days in sections 14, 17, 19 and 36.
- Broadens Metrolinx's power over municipal service/right of way access, including bridges and life safety systems.
- Re-enacts section 30 to cover abandonment or termination of contracts, not just default.
- Repeals not-yet-in-force amendments to section 31, keeping only notice-of-termination provisions.
