Supporting Children and Students Act, 2025

- Amends four Ontario Acts covering child and family services, education governance, and colleges/universities.
- Expands Ministry oversight of school boards, sets new rules for children's aid societies, and adds accountability rules for post-secondary institutions.
- Re-enacts section requiring Ombudsman information be given in more circumstances, in language suited to the person.
- Requires children's aid societies to review and update by-laws and make them public, per regulations.
- New section 41.1 requires Minister's approval for financial transactions or arrangements affecting a society's approved budget.
- Removes maternity homes from the exclusion in the definition of "institution" in section 62.
- Allows Minister to direct investigations of a board's affairs over any matter of public interest, including duty performance.
- Lets Minister give directions to boards and vest control and charge of a board in the Minister for non-compliance.
