HST Relief Implementation Act (Residential Property Rebates), 2026

- Lets Ontario's Minister create regulations giving credits or payments for part of the federal HST paid on residential property
- Caps each credit or payment at $50,000 per person
- Requires that any purchase agreement deadline for eligibility be no later than March 31, 2027
- Allows the federal minister or a supplier to issue the credit or payment on Ontario's behalf
- Lets a person entitled to a payment assign it to someone else
- Requires repayment if someone receives a credit or payment they were not entitled to
- Makes both parties liable to repay if an assigned payment turns out to be undue
